Spring Class Descriptions

Professional Belly Dance Performance & Instruction                                                                                                                 Victoria, BC, Canada

Monday - Essentials (Hybrid: In-Studio & Online):

Prefer to take your dance class during the daytime and at a gentler, slower pace?  Then this mixed level class is perfect for you!  Focusing on the essential building block movements, transitions and travelling steps of belly dance, we will drill and work on short combinations to build confidence in skill and personal style.  For Spring session we will work on a short choreography to a song called Velerie.

Monday - Mixed Level (Studio):

For beginners and intermediate dancers.  We will continue working on the oriental choreography with chassés, turns and layered shimmies and a short drum solo.  Bring a yoga mat for cool down.

Monday - Advanced (Studio):

This is an invite-only class.  We will be working on a Saiidi cane piece that was created by Allison & Bobbie.  Bring a yoga mat for cool down.

Tuesday - Drills, Drills, Drills (Hybrid: In-Studio & Online):

Want to relax your shimmies, put some juice in your oomies and undulations, develop elegant arms and hands, smooth out your transition and get the hang of layering with confidence . . ?  This class is all about drilling, drilling, drilling to develop articulation, strength and stamina.  We will finish with an extended cool down so bring a yoga mat.

Wednesday - Prop Skills (Studio):

Finger cymbals are a musical instrument rather than a prop and they are considered an essential for an American Cabaret dancer.  This session we will continue work on building stamina and dexterity with zills as well as balance and floor work with a tray while learning a choreography to Electric Lotus.  Zills will be provided for class use. Bring a yoga mat for cool down.

Thursday - Mixed Level (Hybrid: In-Studio & Online):

In this mixed level class we will learn a new choreography to the upbeat Egyptian pop song Habebak Ana.  Bring a yoga mat for cool down.

Private Class Options - (Studio or Online):

Do you feel like you need some one on one coaching for technique, performance skills, or choreography creation?  A private class is a great way to hone into what you need to do to reach your personal dance goals. Bashirah students receive a 50% discount on the private class fee.

Note: Class format includes warm up, technique drills, and cool down.  Cultural context,       

             musicality and stylization are addressed at all levels.
